TRIBUNNEWSMAKER.COM – Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di jenjang SMA/MA Kelas 12 saat ini mengacu pada buku Bahasa Inggris Life Today yang disusun oleh Susanti Retno Hardini dkk. dan diterbitkan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) pada tahun 2022. Buku ini dirancang selaras dengan semangat Kurikulum Merdeka, yaitu untuk membentuk pelajar yang aktif, reflektif, dan memiliki keterampilan berbahasa yang terintegrasi.
Pada Unit 1 yang berjudul “Narrative Text: The Story of a Friendly Future”, siswa diajak untuk memahami secara mendalam tentang teks naratif, tidak hanya dari sisi struktur dan kebahasaan, tetapi juga melalui pendekatan multimodal, seperti video dan diskusi. Unit ini bertujuan membekali siswa dengan kemampuan memahami serta menyusun teks naratif, baik secara lisan maupun tulisan.
Materi dalam unit ini mencakup:
- Pengenalan struktur teks naratif (orientation, complication, resolution).
- Pengenalan tujuan komunikatif dari teks naratif.
- Ciri kebahasaan khas teks naratif, seperti penggunaan past tense, kata kerja aksi (action verbs), serta kata penghubung waktu.
- Keterampilan memahami informasi eksplisit dan implisit, menemukan ide pokok, dan menceritakan ulang teks dengan urutan yang tepat.
Pada halaman 29 sampai 33, siswa diarahkan untuk menyelesaikan kegiatan Viewing, yang terdiri dari Activity 1, Activity 2, dan Activity 3. Kegiatan ini melatih keterampilan menyimak dan berpikir kritis melalui video dan diskusi, termasuk:
- Mengamati dan memahami isi video.
- Menyusun urutan informasi.
- Mencocokkan kosakata dengan maknanya.
- Menjawab pertanyaan reflektif yang mengasah pemahaman kontekstual.
Sebagai bagian dari proses pembelajaran aktif, sangat disarankan agar siswa mengerjakan latihan secara mandiri terlebih dahulu, sebelum melihat kunci jawaban. Hal ini penting untuk melatih tanggung jawab, kejujuran, dan daya pikir kritis siswa.
